We strive to create a warm, caring, and inclusive environment—one that is cooperative, motivating, and filled with joy. Through engaging and meaningful experiences, we aim to make learning active, fun, and fulfilling, ensuring that every child finds success in their own way.

Affiliation

Proud Partner of the International Tamil Academy (ITA)

Michigan Tamil School is proud to be affiliated with the International Tamil Academy (ITA), formerly known as the California Tamil Academy (CTA). The ITA curriculum is thoughtfully designed to make learning Tamil enjoyable and accessible—especially for children growing up in the United States.

ITA provides a comprehensive set of learning materials, including:

  • Textbooks
  • Exercise books
  • Handwriting practice books
  • Grammar workbooks for higher grades

These resources are available both as hard copies and digital versions through the ITA website, ensuring flexible access for students and families.

Beyond language instruction, ITA actively promotes Tamil culture through a variety of cultural activities, such as:

  • Music
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Other art forms rooted in Tamil heritage

Each grade-level syllabus is carefully aligned with ITA’s mission to preserve and promote Tamil language and culture in a meaningful and engaging way.

Accreditation

What is Accreditation and Why is it Important?
Accreditation assures the public that an educational institution meets high standards of quality, integrity, and effectiveness. Accredited institutions undergo rigorous evaluation, continuous self-assessment, and periodic external reviews to ensure that their programs positively impact student learning and remain current and relevant.

This process guarantees that the education provided is:

  • Consistently high in quality
  • Aligned with best practices
  • Delivered with integrity
  • Focused on student success

Our Accreditation Journey
Michigan Tamil School is proud to be affiliated with the International Tamil Academy (ITA), formerly known as the California Tamil Academy (CTA). ITA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) — a respected accrediting body in the United States.
As an affiliate of ITA, Michigan Tamil School benefits from this accreditation. Parents and students can be confident that our educational programs have been reviewed and meet recognized standards of excellence.

Looking Ahead
We are committed to continuous improvement. A dedicated team is actively working to maintain our WASC accreditation and to achieve additional accreditation through COGNIA (formerly AdvancED), further reinforcing our commitment to educational excellence.

Seal of Biliteracy

Celebrating Tamil Language Proficiency

Earning the Seal of Biliteracy is an exciting and prestigious achievement for high school graduates! It recognizes students who have attained proficiency in two or more languages, including Tamil—a valuable asset for college admissions and future career opportunities.

How to Earn the Seal in Tamil

To qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy in Tamil, students must demonstrate Intermediate High proficiency in all key language domains:

  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Reading
  • Writing

This proficiency is assessed through approved Tamil language assessments. The Seal serves as an official recognition of a student’s bilingual skills and can enhance college applications and placement opportunities.

How We Support Our Students

At Michigan Tamil School, we are committed to helping our high school students succeed. We:

  • Mentor and guide students through the entire process
  • Provide resources and practice tools to prepare for assessments
  • Offer personalized support to ensure students meet the required proficiency levels

For detailed guidance and support, please feel free to contact our Principal—we’re here to help every step of the way!
