Michigan Tamil Sangam was formed in 1975 as a non-profit organization with no religious or political alignment. The organization was formed by a group of Tamil speaking friends who met in a basement and decided to form a grassroots organization to preserve and nurture their tradition and values for future generations.
Michigan Tamil Sangam organizes Tamil classes for younger kids starting from age 3 and have been doing so since 2010. Tamil class has been very successful in the past years and more than 642 kids participated last academic year

Our mission is to inspire, cultivate, and enhance our children’s reading
habits. Our extensive library collection, comprising over 1000+ books,
serves as a gateway to Tamil culture and traditions for our students.
Students can access the library on a weekly basis, borrowing books that
spark their imagination and curiosity. We encourage a love for reading
by recognizing and rewarding students who read the most books each
year. Our collection includes a diverse range of genres, such as:
– Novels
– Children’s stories
– Biographies of Tamil leaders and freedom fighters
– Fiction and nonfiction
– Moral stories
By fostering a love for reading, we aim to shape young minds and
inspire a lifelong passion for learning.
